Skip the flight to a New York City airport and the long drive out the Montauk Highway. Fly direct from Burlington and land ten minutes from East Hampton village in about an hour and a half. SkySouth Aviation has flown private charter since 2003.
The route, direct
No connection, no NYC airport, and no traffic on the Long Island Expressway. You fly straight to the East End.
Door to door
There is no direct commercial route from the Triad to the Hamptons. The painful part is not the flight, it is the two to three hour drive from a New York City airport out to the East End, often longer on a summer Friday.
Commercial estimates assume a flight from the Triad into a New York City area airport plus the drive to the East End, which routinely runs two to three hours and longer in summer weekend traffic. Individual itineraries vary. Heading into Manhattan instead of the beach? See our Greensboro to New York route.
Two aircraft, one nonstop leg

The airports
Both ends of this route are general aviation fields, not commercial terminals. That is the difference most travelers do not appreciate until they experience it.
3 nm southwest of downtown Burlington, NC
Home base for SkySouth since 2003. The 6,400 foot runway accommodates the CJ1, the CJ3, and larger cabin business jets flying in to use the SkySouth FBO.
Wainscott, about 3 miles from East Hampton village
The most central airport for the Hamptons, a public-use general aviation airport whose runway comfortably handles the CJ1 and CJ3. SkySouth follows the field's voluntary noise abatement procedures.
For the western Hamptons, larger groups, or peak weekend weather backups, Francis S. Gabreski Airport (FOK) in Westhampton Beach is the alternative, with a 9,000 foot runway and full FBO service. Both airports appear in the FAA National Plan of Integrated Airport Systems. Neither has customs, so international trips clear at a major New York airport first.
Who books this route
Unlike a business hub, the Hamptons run on a calendar. Demand climbs from Memorial Day, peaks through July and August, and eases after Labor Day, so weekend slots go early.
Demand by month
Relative charter demand across the year. Peak runs from Memorial Day through Labor Day, so book summer weekends as early as possible.
Why it matters
The worst part of a Hamptons trip is the traffic out from the city. Flying direct removes it completely.
Friday evening out, Sunday night back, or a same day round trip. The aircraft works around your weekend.
The CJ3 seats six to seven. One charter rate covers the family or the group, luggage and all.
East Hampton Town Airport is about ten minutes from the village and central to Southampton and Montauk.
Flying private charter since 2003. Hospital systems rely on SkySouth crews for some of the most demanding missions in civilian aviation.
Every quote is personalized with no hidden fees. You know the cost before you book, ground logistics included.
The bigger picture
Federal data shows business jet activity growing steadily, driven by travelers who value time, flexibility, and access to airports commercial carriers do not serve.
